I've done some updating of my ExchangeContacts PowerShell module to support the following Modern Authentication in Office365 (distributing the ADAL dll with this module) Compiled and distributed the latest version of the EWS Managed API from GitHub with the module New cmdlet Export-EXCContacts that supports exporting all contacts in a Folder to a single VCF File New cmdlet Export-EXCContacts that supports exporting all contacts to a CSV file (this was already possible with the ExportFolder cmdlet but this is a slightly enhanced format) New cmldet Export-EXCRootContacts lets you export the Non_IPM Subtree folders that contain contacts. GDPR which stands for General Data Protection Regulation is one of those things that surfaces in the IT world (y2k would be another) that seems like a godsend to the lawyers and anybody doing project management.  Endless paperwork, meetings, manual writing and training that seems to achieve little but cost a ton. One of the problems with GDPR is the very broad brush it paints with about what is considered private data and what constitutes compliance. What I'm going to cover in this post is what you can do if your on the receiving end of a GDPR data request around Contacts that are stored in an Exchange Mailbox and how scripting can help you out. I'm not going to talk about any of the legalities around GDPR because its a bit of minefield but look more at it from the data prospective. Folder Associated Items are hidden Items in Exchange Mailbox folders that are commonly used to hold configuration settings for various Mailbox Clients and services that use Mailboxes. Some common examples of FAI's are Categories,OWA Signatures and WorkHours there is some more detailed documentation in the https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc463899(v=exchg.80).aspx protocol document. In EWS these configuration items can be accessed via the UserConfiguration operation https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dd899439(v=exchg.150).aspx which will give you access to either the RoamingDictionary, XMLStream or BinaryStream data properties that holds the configuration depending on what type of FAI data is being stored.
